Cedar Ridge Caps

Cedar ridge caps are specialized cedar components installed along the peak or ridge line of a cedar roof. Their primary function is to protect the joint where two roof slopes meet while maintaining a consistent architectural appearance.

Because the ridge is highly exposed to wind, rain, and snow, ridge caps play a critical role in preventing water infiltration at the roof peak. They are typically installed in overlapping layers to ensure water sheds properly away from the ridge seam.

In addition to waterproofing, cedar ridge caps contribute to roof ventilation systems when integrated with ridge vent assemblies. This helps regulate attic airflow and moisture levels beneath the roofing structure.

Ridge caps are subject to intense environmental exposure and may weather more rapidly than lower roof sections. Regular inspection is important to identify splitting, lifting, or deterioration.

Properly installed ridge caps enhance both the durability and visual continuity of cedar roofing systems.
